New contender in Sooners' QB race?
After four years at Texas State, Chase Wasson received a special waiver from the NCAA and will be immediately eligible as a Sooner in the fall. Another contender for OU's vacant quarterback post? Perhaps. But a major motive in Wasson's move to Norman was the opportunity to observe Bob Stoops and Co. at work while working on a master's degree.

Auburn coach rates SEC best
Auburn offensive coordinator Al Borges was asked to compare the Southeastern Conference to the Pac-10, where Borges coached in the past at UCLA. He also coached at Indiana in the Big Ten. Borges; assessment leaned to the SEC. "I've said that the SEC is the best conference in the country," Borges explained. "And the reason being is I think the speed factor (in the SEC) is such as the other conferences just don't have that."

Former Arkansas QB enrolls at USC
After five months of considering his options, former Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain officially enrolls at USC. He'll be eligible to play in 2008. With John David Booty in his final year of eligibility, Mustain is expected to push Mark Sanchez, who will be a redshirt sophomore this fall, for the starting job next spring.

USC's Nick Young has declared for thr NBA Draft. Young announced his decision Tuesday at a news conference on campus. He said he will hire an agent, making his decision irrevocable. "It was a tough decision," the 21-year-old junior said. "I'm very confident. It's a dream come true. I'm just trying to make a better life for my family." Young averaged 17.5 points and 4.6 rebounds this season, scoring in double figures in USC's last 25 games. Aside from leading them to their first NCAA tourney in 5 years, he will leave as the 6th leading scorer in USC history.
